【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedtoassistengineers,LDC’andinstallersindeterminingthesuitabilityofgaspipelinesforasecondaryuseascarriersforopticalfibersystems.Itmustbekeptinmindthattheprimaryuseofthegaspipelinesistodelivernaturalgastotheendcustomer.Anysecondaryuseofthesystemshallhaveminimalimpactonitsprimaryfunction.Itisuptotheengineertodecideupontheorderofoperationsandanyexceptionsthatmaybeinvolvedintheselectionprocess.Beforetheselectionprocedurebegins,theLDCmusthavedevelopedanexplicitagreementauthorizinganinstallertoplaceopticalfibercableswithintheirpipingsystem.TherelevantLDCengineersshouldalsobecognizantofhowtheinstallationofopticalfibercablewillimpactthefuturegasdeliverability,operation,maintenance,andrehabilitationneedsofthepipelinestobeusedascarriersofopticalfibersystems.1.1Thispracticespecificallyaddressesthecriteriafordeterminingthesuitabilityofnaturalgaspipelinesforuseasconduitsforopticalfibercablesystems,asopposedtostandardsfortheoperationandmaintenanceofsuchasystem.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesprovidedinparenthesesareforinformationpurposesonly.1.3Thispracticedoesnotapplytonaturalgastransmissionlines.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
